Roberto Vivo Cháneton was born in Montevideo, Uruguay, on July 4, 1953. He is a widower and has three children. He currently lives in Punta del Este (Uruguay) and frequently visits Argentina, the United States, and several countries in Latin America, Europe and Asia.
He has a bachelor’s degree in business administration and pursued graduate studies in macroeconomics and other business-related courses. Three years ago, he resumed his art practice as a painter and sculptor.
In the professional field, he has founded and ran companies in several industries, such as public works, fishing, agriculture, real estate, telecommunications and Internet. He is currently the CEO and chairman of a global media company. He is also the senior vice president of the board of directors of Torcuato Di Tella University.
In terms of politics, he was actively involved in the recovery of democracy in Uruguay as a member of the Colorado Party.
In addition to his latest book, “El Crimen de la Guerra” (The Crime of War), he has written “Negocios en Red, el Management de la Nueva Economía” (Networking Business, Management of the New Economy), Norma Editorial, Buenos Aires, 2001, as well as several articles on business and social issues, and “Breve Historia de las Religiones del Mundo” (A Brief History of World Religions), published on Amazon in 2012, which summarizes the history of humanity in terms of religions and is now printed for his friends.
